About Austin Pride

Austin Pride, consisting of a festival, a night-time parade, and an after-parade party,l is a family-friendly, community-building event for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and straight-allied community of Austin and Central Texas.  The crowning event  of weeks-long celebration (with events by nearly every LGBT and related organization in Austin), it honors and promotes the diversity and acceptance that makes Austin great!
Austin Pride History

For many years, the Pride Texas festival (founded and run by Equality Texas) and the AGLCC Pride Parade (founded and run by the Austin Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce) were produced separately making up Austin's Pride celebrations.  In 2008, the two organizations worked together to hold the events on the same day, for the first time in Austin history!  After that milestone, Equality Texas decided to turn the festival over to the community via the Pride Coalition, a program of the AGLCC that includes seven representative LGBT organizations in Austin.

The community decided to combine the parade and festival events into a single Austin Pride, managed by the AGLCC with direct ongoing input from the member organizations of the Pride Coalition.  With the community's input, the 2009 Austin Pride will combine the two events into a single experience, moving the festival to be an integral part of the parade route, reducing costs of participation, and ensuring that Austin Pride is truly a celebration for us all!

Evening Meetings

Evening meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month.  These meetings are great opportunities for networking in a professional setting with like-minded LGBT professionals.  Evening meetings may have a cost (always with a discount for AGLCC members), or an educational business speaker.  Members can also sponsor evening meetings.  Meeting sponsors are allowed to distribute promotional and marketing materials as well as give a short talk about their business.

To speak at an evening meeting, contact business@aglcc.org

Networking Luncheons

AGLCC luncheons are held on the 4th Tuesday of every month.  These meetings are great opportunities to meet other LGBT professionals in a relaxed atmosphere.  Luncheons are typically free to attend, with members paying for their lunch individually.

Volunteer Opportunities

Membership in the AGLCC is more than just helping yourself.  LGBT businesses have many opportunities in marketing, advertising, and networking within the Austin community.  However, only the AGLCC represents a way to not only help your own business but also to help the entire LGBT community.

Membership dues pay for more than just networking events!  Supporting the Chamber means making an investment in Austin and in building a stronger LGBT community.  AGLCC offers free membership, volunteer support, and at times financial support to non-profit and cultural organizations throughout Austin.  Supporting the Chamber means supporting what makes Austin special!

The AGLCC does not employ any paid staff members, meaning every dollar raised through membership dues and event sponsorships is reinvested back into the community through chamber initiatives across the Austin area.

Volunteer with the Chamber!

There are many ways to get involved with the AGLCC as a volunteer!  There's no better way to meet like-minded, quality individuals while helping your community.  While any member of the LGBT community can apply to volunteer on any committee, leadership positions are limited to AGLCC members.
