AGLCC sponsors and participates in AIDS Walk Austin 2012

AGLCC at AIDS Walk 2013 Gifted by a magnificent Austin day, on Sunday, October 20th the Austin AIDS Walk took place. Beginning and ending at Republic Square Park, the event had a fun festival event as entertainment filled the stage. AGLCC was represented by a booth in the vendor area, was a Benefactor Sponsor of the Walk, and had a special AGLCC member only sponsor initiative. Warmed up by always entertaining Rebecca Havemeyer, and kicked off by LGBT-rights pioneer Cleve Jones, the crowd walked up Congress Avenue, embracing the Texas Capitol before returning to Republic Square Park to end the festivities. Helping our city create Community is another of AGLCC's core ideals. Thank you for helping us build it together!

AGLCC at Polari (formerly aGLIFF)

Polari held its 26th film festival this year, the week of October 16-20. Using multiple venues, the festival showcased 89 standout films from 17 countries (out of 400 submitted). This year’s festival theme, “Don’t Just Sit There: Induldge. Engage. Create.” was self-evident with the festival’s lively Q&A sessions, interactive parties and panel discussions. AGLCC was proud to co-sponsor the showing of the Best of Girls and Boys Shorts, a compilation of eight of the best film shorts submitted for consideration. The Chamber received quite a few shout outs during many film introductions (thank you Benjamin Morton, Midtown Title and Aaron Yeats, Polari Interim Executive Director) as well as talk of our now famous BigGay Bags. Many of our members became vendors for Polari, and we are happy to continue to be the resource for building Austin's LGBT community.
