#BigGay Kickoff Party

#BigGay Kickoff Party Celebrate the start of SXSW 2013 with your LGBT friends and family! It's the funnest*, biggest, gayest way to kick off the conference!  The #BigGay Kickoff Party is produced by the AGLCC and member therepubliq.

Be sure to swing by to pick up the complete gAyTX SXSW Fun Guide produced by the AGLCC and the Austin Chronicle's The Gay Place.  We will be monitoring all the gay-going's-on during the conference for our comprehensive guide to the queer side of SXSW.

RSVP to ensure your free drinks and one-of-a-kind Very Important Gay badge!  RSVP also on Facebook, Eventbrite, Google+

* Calm down, grammar nazis... we use the word "funnest" as an homage to Steve Jobs' famous use of the word in his September 2008 keynote launching the iPod Touch.

iCare Concert with Sara Hickman

Sara Hickman In a special pre-Valentine’s Day benefit concert, the Care Communities will be presenting the iCare Concert with Sara Hickman. Promising to be an enchanting evening of great food and live music, the event takes places Tuesday, February 12th from 8pm to 10pm at Reunion Grill, Cedar Park’s newest restaurant and live music venue. Proceeds go to the Care Communities which provides support and care for Central Texans living with serious illness and will immediately impact the lives of people who would otherwise go without care. Visit The Care Communities website for more information

StartOut: Dream Team II: Building your Startup Network

StartOut In the sequel to their first event, Dream Team I: Choosing the Right People, Right from the Start; StartOut presents Dream Team II: Building your Startup Network. The event will combine aspects of speed networking with brief pitches from local entrepreneurs. Your next co-founder, key employee, advisor or investor is waiting. Wednesday, February 13th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Visit the StartOut website for more information

City Redistricting seeking committee members

10-One In November, City of Austin voters approved the City Charter Amendment "Proposition 3" also known as "10-1". This established a new way of choosing Council Members from 10 single-member geographic districts versus at-large districts. With the Amendment passed, the task of drawing those geographic districts is left to a 3-member Applicant Review Panel and a 14-member Citizens Redistricting Commission. We need to make sure there is LGBT representation on this commission! And we believe the most qualified candidates will come from our membership. The deadline to apply is February 22nd. For more information, please visit the 10-One website.

The Agenda deadline approaches

The Agenda - Winter 2012 The third issue of The Agenda will be published in early March to coincide with SXSW. Accordingly, the deadline to be included in the publication will be February 15 for both membership renewal and advertising. Advertising rates start at just $32 for this 10,000 publication run. For more information, please contact Jimmy Flannigan (president@aglcc.org).

Recap of 2013 State of the Chamber

AGLCC On January 17th, AGLCC presented its fourth State of the Chamber event at member hotel, the Hyatt Regency. Newly reelected president Jimmy Flannigan presented a recap of the growth of the Chamber over 2012 and the vision for 2013 and beyond. Watch the video of the speech or check out the photos from that fantastic night!

AGLCC Toastmasters: Celebrating One Year

AGLCC Toastmasters AGLCC Toastmasters is approaching its one year anniversary. Its inaugural year was a successful one, making a big splash in the Central/South Texas region. Club members competed in speech contests (making it to the finals in both the Spring and Fall impromptu speaking contests) and rising through district leadership, co-chairing their successful Fall conference. And as one of only a handful of LGBT Toastmasters clubs in the country, it was one of the fastest-growing clubs in the nation. It will be celebrating its one year anniversary with a special meeting on February 25th. For more information please visit the event page.
