The AGLCC Foundation, a nonprofit corporation based in Austin, Texas, was founded in 2016 with one goal in mind – helping members of the local LGBT community gain knowledge and skills.
How will the foundation do that? By providing education grants to deserving LGBT residents of the Austin metro area so that they can develop skills and become more successful. These scholarships will allow any LGBT person of any age to, for instance, study nursing, learn about auto repair, sharpen business expertise or get their bachelors degree at accredited institutions and other 501(c)3 training organizations.
Through this effort, the AGLCC Foundation aims to empower members of the local LGBT community and build a stronger community overall.
Leading the foundation as its founding board members are:
Jeff Arnold, Chair
Tony Halstead, Secretary
Carlie Bittel, Treasurer
In the coming months, we’ll be offering details about how the grant process will work, including when the first grants will be awarded. In the meantime, you can support this initiative by attending PROUD!, the AGLCC first-ever fundraising gala, on Saturday, June 3rd. For more information, visit the event website. We hope you’ll take pride in the strong potential of Austin’s LGBT community by supporting the AGLCC Foundation.
